Women's Soccer Signs Leah Gallie as part of Class of 2013

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Head Coach Jim McGirr has added another player to his already strong class of 2013. Leah Gallie (Palmerston North, NZ) joins next year’s freshman class, which already includes six other players. Gallie is the first student-athlete from New Zealand to play women’s soccer at Providence College. LEAH GALLIE- 5’6 MIDFIELD/FORWARD (PALMERSTON NORTH, NZ/MASSEY UNIVERSITY PREMIER/FREYBURG HIGH SCHOOL) NATIONAL TEAM - Played in FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup 2008, representing New Zealand. HIGH SCHOOL - Attended Freyburg HS and Massey University during high school CLUB - Played for the Glenfield Rovers in Auckland...Member of Manawatu Regional Team, which participates in tournaments again other regions throughout the area...Also participated in numerous National camps PERSONAL - Daughter of Diane and David Gallie...Has three older siblings, Sarah , Rebekah and Daniel... Born March 10, 1991...Undecided Major Jim McGirr - “Leah is a player that comes to us with incredible experience after playing in the Under 17 World Cup. She gained valuable experience in a high level environment. She is a tremendously athletic player who has a great sense of the game as do most international players. She’s also versatile as she began playing the center back position but has moved to center midfield. She comes from a strong soccer culture, she understands the game and she knows how to play many positions well.”
