PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College women's soccer head coach Tracy Kerr announced that four student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Providence College and compete for the women's soccer team, beginning in the fall of 2002.

The first of the four signees is Kerry O'Malley (Longmeadow, Mass.). O'Malley will play at the forward position and is expected to make an immediate impact. She's a prolific scorer who earned high school All-America status in 2001 while at Longmeadow High School. O'Malley also played for the Massachusetts State Team in the Olympic Development Program and played club soccer for the Greater Boston Bolts.

Emily White (Stafford Springs, Conn.) is another signee who is expected to contribute early. White is a defender who can play anywhere on the back line. White, who played club soccer with the U18 Oakwood Soccer Club, earned all-state honors at Stafford High School.

The third signee is Caitlin Pickul (North Andover, Mass.). Pickul is a goaltender who will battle for the starting position. Pickul was a four-year starter at North Andover High School and was captain during her senior year. In 1999, Pickul was the leading goalkeeper in the league as she recorded a 0.69 goals against average.

Tomris Mesen (Fairfax Station, Va.) rounds out the list of signees. Mesen is a strong defender with good size. She played three years of varsity soccer at Robinson Secondary School. Mesen played club soccer for Pride of McLean and was a member of four Virginia State Cup Championship teams. Mesen also played field hockey and was a member of the indoor track team.

The Providence College women's soccer team finished the 2001 season with a 7-9-2 overall record, including a 1-4-1 mark in the BIG EAST Northeast Division. Freshman Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.) was named to the All-BIG EAST Rookie Team, while junior Kyle McAuley (Trumbull, Conn.) earned second team All-BIG EAST honors.
