April 14, 2004

Providence College women's soccer Head Coach Tracy Kerr announced the promotion of Stephen Pickman to assistant coach. Pickman, the former Friars' goalkeeper coach, was an assistant coach at Roger Williams University prior to coming to Providence before the start of the 2000 season.

Pickman played goalkeeper for two seasons for the Hartwick College soccer squad before transferring to the University of Rhode Island in 1998. He spent two seasons with the Rams. In 1999, Pickman played in nine games, registering a 0.8 goals against average and an .857 save percentage at URI. He also helped the Rams capture the Atlantic-10 title in 1999 and earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

A native of North Kingston, R.I., Pickman attended Moses Brown High School. He was a two-time All-New England selection and he also earned All-State honors.
