    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On Thursday, Jan. 9 it was announced that three women's soccer players were named to the New England Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England teams for their performances during the 2013 season. Senior midfielder Amanda Webster (Saugus, Mass.) and sophomore forward Catherine Zimmerman (Madison, N.J.) were named to the second team, while junior defender Alexia Shea (Brewster, N.Y.) was selected to the third team.

    Webster played in each of the Friars' 18 games, appearing in the starting line-up 17 times. Webster ranked third on the team in scoring with 11 points on two goals and a team-high seven assists.

    Zimmerman played in 17 games for the Friars and appeared in the starting line-up 16 times. Zimmerman led the Friars in scoring for the second consecutive season. The striker tallied a career-high 16 points with a team-best seven goals and two assists. Zimmerman also led the team in game-winning goals, four, for the second straight season, ranking tied for third in BIG EAST.

    Shea served as the backbone of the Friars' defense and led Providence to four shutout victories. She started each of the 16 games that she appeared in. Shea recorded two points on the season on one goal.
