Providence Drops 1-0 Decision to St. John's
JAMAICA, N.Y. -- St. John's University defeated Providence College,
1-0, Sunday in BIG EAST women's soccer action at Jamaica, N.Y.
St. John's senior midfielder Jen Contesini stole the ball from a PC
defender and booted a shot past PC goalkeeper Shayna Ross to net the
only goal of the game at the 27:25 mark.
St. John's senior goalkeeper Sherry Reill recorded five stops in the
win. Ross made 10 saves on 21 shots for the Friars.
St. John's improved its record to 5-5, 2-5 in the BIG EAST while
Providence dropped to 2-5-1 overall and 0-4 in the league.
The Friars return to action on Wednesday, October 1 against
Northeastern at PC's Glay Field at 3:30 p.m.
