    Providence Strikes it to Maine 3-1

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College defeated the University of Maine, 3-1, in women's soccer action on Monday, September 22 at Providence, R.I. PC senior captain Jesse Ricardo led the Friar offense with two goals.

    Junior midfielder Michelle Caravana scored the game's first goal at 23:12 on a pass from sophomore midfielder Alexa Ricardo. Maine's only goal was scored by Kelly Stubbs at the 23:12 mark on a pass from senior back Mary Wells. The Friars quickly scored two goals by Ricardo at the 44:14 and 44:47 mark and entered halftime with a 3-1 lead.

    Providence goalkeeper Shayna Ross made eight saves in the win. Karyn McMullin recorded nine saves for Maine in the loss.

    Providence improved its overall record to 2-3-1, while Maine dropped to 3-5-0 overall.

    The Friars return to action on Friday, September 26 against Syracuse at Syracuse, N.Y.
