Box Score

The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated on Sunday, October 27, 1-0, at Providence, R.I. by Yale. The Friars played the Huskies extremely close in the first-half. Both teams had chances but were unable to capitalize on them until Ali Cobbett let loose with a cannon from just inside the box in the 45th minute. Providence's goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) was just a little late on the shot as she fought her way to see through a screen set by the Bulldogs. Cobbett's shot found its way into the lower left corner and put them ahead for good. Providence made a final push but Yale goalkeeper Lindsay Sabel kept them off the scoreboard. The Friars were outshot, 18-12, and Haines made eight saves. With the loss, the Friars fall to 7-8-2 overall, while the Bulldogs improved to 9-4-1 overall. Providence returns to action at home on Wednesday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m. versus Holy Cross at Glay Field.
