The Providence College women's soccer team upset Miami, 1-0, in overtime on Sunday, October 26 in Providence, R.I.

The Friars came out strong and dominated play throughout the first-half outshooting the Hurricanes, 14-2. In the 15th minute junior Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.) blasted a freekick from 25 yards out that was bending for the upper right corner and was just punched away with a diving save by the Hurricane keeper. Miami controlled much of the second-half as they outshot Providence, 16-6. Senior goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) made six of her seven saves in the second-half to keep the game scoreless. In the 93rd minute Robertson fired another freekick, this time from the left side of the box, that the Miami keeper could not reach. Robertson's goal gave the Friars their first-ever victory over the Hurricanes.

With the win in their final game, the Friars improve to 7-7-3 overall and 1-3-2 in BIG EAST play, while Miami falls to 9-8-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the BIG EAST.
