In their final home match of the season, Caitlin Pickul and the Friars were defeated, 3-0.
The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by No. 18 West Virginia on Senior day, Sunday, October 23 at PC's Glay Field. Sophomore goalkeeper Laura Elfers (Deer Park, N.Y.) recorded eight saves for the Friars.

West Virginia's Mollie Merkel put the Mountaineers up 1-0 in the 37th minute after she headed an Ashley Banks throw-in past Elfers. Merkel's goal would prove to be the game winner, but the Mountaineers weren't done there. Less that four minutes into the second half, Banks sent another throw-in to the front of the net where Rachel Minnick settled the ball and fed a quick pass to Marisa Kanela, who touched the ball past Elfers for a 2-0 West Virginia lead. Kanela also netted the third and final goal of the game, off a pass from Cathy Abel.

Providence College women's soccer returns to action on Wednesday, October 26, when the Friars travel to cross-town rival Brown University for a 7:00 p.m. match against the Bears.
