The Providence College women's soccer team defeated Villanova, 1-0, on Sunday, October 21 at Villanova, Pa.

Freshman midfielder Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.) scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute to lift the Friars past the Wildcats. Freshman forward Shannon McMorrow (Boca Raton, Fla.) assisted on the goal to tally her first collegiate point.

The Wildcats outshot the Friars, 18-10, as PC sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) made seven saves to earn her third shutout of the season. Villanova's Janel Schillig (Marlton, N.J.) made five saves in the loss.

With the win, PC improved to 6-7-2, while Villanova fell to 10-4-3.

The Friars are back in action on Friday, October 26 as they travel to face Seton Hall.
