PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women’s soccer team fell to the DePaul Blue Demons, 1-0 on Sunday, October 19 at Glay Field in Providence. With the loss, the Friars fall to 5-7-3 (0-6-3 BIG EAST) on the season while the Blue Demons improve to 3-14-0 (1-8-0 BIG EAST).

DePaul got on the board in the last minute of the first half as an own goal was credited. Friar goalkeeper Jill Schott (Windham, N.H.) made all four of her saves during the first period of play.

The Friars’ best opportunity for a goal came in the 79th minute as junior Tara Ricciardi’s (Wayne, N.J.) shot hit the post. They also had a goal disallowed in that same minute after an offsides call.

Schott made her four saves off 12 Blue Demon shots. DePaul keeper Kelsey Hoinkes stopped two of the Friars’ 22 chances in the contest. Providence had the advantage in corner kicks, 10-3.

The Friars will conclude their regular season schedule as they play host to two BIG EAST foes next weekend. On Friday, October 24, PC will take on St. John’s at 3:00 p.m. Then, on Sunday, October 26, Providence will host Syracuse for senior day at 1:00 p.m.
