Final Stats

PITTSBURGH, PA. - The Providence College women's soccer team fell to Pittsburgh, 2-1, in overtime during BIG EAST Conference regular-season action in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Friars drop to 5-5-3 overall and 0-4-3 in the BIG EAST, while Pittsburgh improves to 5-10-0 overall and 2-5-0 in league play.

Pittsburgh got on the board first for a 1-0 lead as Ashley Habbel collected a pass from Liz Carroll in the box in the 24th minute and blasted a shot into the top right corner of the net. Carrol was credited with the assist. The Friars fought back to tie the game, 1-1, as Victoria Neff posted her first goal of the season, unassisted. Neff tallied the goal on a breakaway and knocked the ball by Pitt's goalkeeper into the lower right corner.

The two teams were scoreless during the final 33 minutes of action, and the game went to overtime, where Katelyn Ruhe tallied the game-winning goal in the 96th minute. Ruhe blasted the ball from 20 yards out and it sailed to the back of the net in the upper right corner. Christina Nicassio recorded the assist for Pittsburgh.

Jill Schott recorded six saves in goal for Providence, while her counterpart, Morie Kephart, stopped four shots for Pittsburgh. The Panthers held a 12-6 advantage in shots on the day and an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
