The Providence College women's soccer team tied Syracuse on Sunday, October 12, 1-1.

The Orangewomen got on the board in the 35th minute of the game when Anne Marie Lapalme tallied her fourth goal of the season. Freshman Leah Vieira (Rochester, N.Y.) tied the game in the 54th minute as she netted her first collegiate goal as she deposited a rebound off a shot from junior Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.). Senior goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) made seven saves to keep the Friars in the game as they were outshot, 18-9.

With the draw, the Friars moved to 5-5-3 overall and 0-1-2 in the BIG EAST, while Syracuse moved to 8-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the BIG EAST. Providence returns to action on Wednesday, October 15 as they travel to Storrs, Conn. to take on BIG EAST rival Connecticut at 5:00 p.m.
