MORGANTOWN, W. VA. – The Providence College women’s soccer team fell to the West Virginia Mountaineers, 3-0 on Friday, October 10 in Morgantown, West Virginia. With the loss, Providence falls to 5-4-3 (0-3-3 BIG EAST) on the season while WVU improves to 8-2-4 (3-1-2 BIG EAST).

The Mountaineers got on the board first in the 18th minute as an own goal was tallied. WVU added a goal in the 21st minute as Blake Miller, making the Mountaineer advantage, 2-0. Friar sophomore goalkeeper Jill Schott (Windham, N.H.) notched five of her 10 saves during the first period of play.

West Virginia finished the scoring in the 79th minute as Erica Henderson scored to put the Mountaineers in front, 3-0.

Juniors Jill Camburn (Doylestown, Pa.) and Tara Ricciardi (Wayne, N.J.) both tallied two shots during the contest. WVU outshot the Friars, 24-5 during the game and also won the battle in corner kicks, 11-1.

Providence will conclude their five game road trip with a BIG EAST contest at Pittsburgh on Sunday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m.
