Women's Soccer Shutout to Villanova, 2-0
Oct. 10, 2004 VILLANOVA, Pa. (October 10, 2004) -- The Providence College women's soccer team fell to 4-10 on the season after a 2-0 shutout loss to BIG EAST opponent Villanova on Sunday, October 10 in Villanova, Pa. The Friars fall to 1-6 in the conference, while Villanova improve to 4-3. The Wildcats dominated play as they outshot Providence 23-3. The Wildcats were led by senior Laura Johnson who scored one goal and one assist in the victory. The first goal of the game was scored by freshman Stacia Hartung at 14:09 with the assist from Johnson. Less than two minutes later, Johnson scored with a header from the center of the box at 15:57. Johnson's goal was assisted by freshman Kaley Guthrie and junior Kristin Anderson. Freshman Ashley Fedyshyn (Lincroft, N.J.) posted a career-high 12 saves and allowed two goals. Sophomore goalkeeper captured a shoutout and posted one save. Providence ends its four-game conference road-trip against Boston College on Wednesday, October 13 in Boston, Mass.
