The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated, 1-0, by the University of Miami on Sunday, October 7 at PC's Glay Field.

Miami's freshman midfielder Britney Butcher (Bothell, Wash.) scored the only goal of the game in the 76th minute to lift the Hurricanes. Miami outshot the Friars 17-8. PC's sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) made six saves, while Elizabeth Swinson (Boca Raton, Fla.) stopped four shots.

The Friars dropped their fourth straight game and fell to 4-5-1 overall, 0-4-1 in the BIG EAST. The Hurricanes improved to 8-3-1, 3-2-0 in conference play.

PC will host Virginia Tech on Friday, October 12 at 3:00 p.m. at PC's Glay Field.
