Providence Women's Soccer Falls in BIG EAST Conference Action
Oct. 5, 2001 The Providence College women's soccer team dropped their third straight BIG EAST Conference game as St. John's Univerty defeated the Friars, 2-1, on Friday, October 5. The Redstorm opened the scoring in the 20th minute as Marissa Stork (Flushing, N.Y.) fired a shot from 15 yards out and beat Friar goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.). St. John's increased the lead to, 2-0, in the 53rd minute, when Lisa Kaczmarski (Lancaster, N.Y.) converted a pass from Joanna Dawson (Staten Island, N.Y.). The Friars cut the lead in half in the 80th minute as freshman midfielder BriAnne Bruni scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway. The Redstorm outshot the Friars, 9-4. Haines made four saves, while St. John's goalkeeeper Tina Fogg (Warwick, R.I.) stopped two shots. The Friars fell to 4-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the BIG EAST, while the Redstorm improved to 3-6-1 and 2-2-0 in conference play. The Friars are back in action Sunday, October 7 at 1:00 p.m. as they host 24th ranked Miami in BIG EAST Conference action.
