The Providence College women's soccer team dropped their third straight BIG EAST Conference game as St. John's Univerty defeated the Friars, 2-1, on Friday, October 5.

The Redstorm opened the scoring in the 20th minute as Marissa Stork (Flushing, N.Y.) fired a shot from 15 yards out and beat Friar goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.). St. John's increased the lead to, 2-0, in the 53rd minute, when Lisa Kaczmarski (Lancaster, N.Y.) converted a pass from Joanna Dawson (Staten Island, N.Y.).

The Friars cut the lead in half in the 80th minute as freshman midfielder BriAnne Bruni scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway. The Redstorm outshot the Friars, 9-4. Haines made four saves, while St. John's goalkeeeper Tina Fogg (Warwick, R.I.) stopped two shots.

The Friars fell to 4-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the BIG EAST, while the Redstorm improved to 3-6-1 and 2-2-0 in conference play.

The Friars are back in action Sunday, October 7 at 1:00 p.m. as they host 24th ranked Miami in BIG EAST Conference action.
