PITTSBURGH, PA. - The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by Pittsburgh, 1-0, in BIG EAST Conference action on Wednesday, September 29 in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Friars fall to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the BIG EAST with the loss, while Pittsburgh improves to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the league.

Pittsburgh scored the game's lone goal in the 18th minute as Rachel Vecchio knocked in an unassisted goal from outside the box. The goal marked Vecchio's second tally of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Fedyshyn (Lincroft, N.J.) made four saves for Providence in the loss. Jamie Pelusi took in five saves for Pittsburgh, giving the Panthers their first BIG EAST victory of the season.

Providence (3-7, 0-2 BIG EAST) will return to action on Friday, October 1 against Georgetown in a BIG EAST Conference match-up. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. at Glay Field in Providence, R.I.
