Box Score

The Providence College women's soccer team tied #18 Boston College on Wednesday, September 24, 1-1, in Providence, R.I.

Boston College got on the board in the 18th minute of the first half when Katie McGregor scored on a pass from Jenny Maurer. The Friars put forth a very strong defensive effort as much of the game was played in their end. Junior Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass) evened the game in the 33rd minute when she rocketed a cross from junior BriAnne Bruni (Bristol, Conn.) into the lower right corner past the BC keeper. Senior goaltender Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) kept the Friars in the game with several key saves as the Eagles outshot Providence, 27-7. Boston College held possession for much of the overtime periods but were unable to produce any results as the Friar defense held strong.

With the draw, the Friars moved to 5-2-2 on the season, while Boston College moved to 8-0-1. Both teams are 0-0-1 in the BIG EAST Northeastern division. Providence returns to action on Sunday, September 28 as they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on Georgetown University at 1:00 p.m.
