Providence Women's Soccer Falls to South Florida, 2-0

Tampa, Fla. - After a scoreless first half of soccer, the University of South Florida women's soccer team scored one goal in the 65th minute and another just 23 minutes later to beat the Providence Friars, 2-0, Friday night at the USF Soccer Stadium. The Bulls improve to 5-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the BIG EAST, while the Friars drop to 3-2-3 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play. In the first half, the Bulls took just five shots and recorded two corner kicks while senior goalkeeper Casey Garrett made one save. The Friars took two shots in the first period as junior goalie Laura Elfers (Deer Park, N.Y.) stopped three USF shots on goal. In the 65th minute, sophomore Ebony Robinson scored her second goal of the season off a left-to-right cross from junior Lindsay Brauer. Just 23 minutes later junior defender Jeannette Dyer converted a free kick into the bottom left corner of the net for the second goal of the game. Elfers made five saves for PC, while Garrett registered two saves for USF. Providence will return to action on Sunday when it hosts Marquette. Kick off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
