Friars Fall To Syracuse, 6-0, In Women's Soccer Action

Providence, R.I. - Providence, R.I. -- Freshman midfielder Candace Reich scored two goals and sophomore forward Erin O'Grady had two assists to lead the Syracuse women's soccer team to a 6-0 win over Providence College Sunday afternoon at Glay Field.

Syracuse directed 35 shots at PC's junior goalkeeper Shayna Ross who made 15 saves in the game. Providence had just eight shots in the game with Syracuse junior keeper Riley Wogamon making two saves in the game.

The Orange jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead on goals by sophomore Erin Parsons, senior Stacy Shanning, Reich and sophomore Tricia Burch. Reich got her second goal of the game at 69:25 and junior Amy Knoebel closed out the scoring at 82:42.

The loss drops Providence to 1-6-0 overall and 1-3-0 in BIG EAST play. Syracuse is now 4-2-1 on the season and 2-1-1 in the BIG EAST.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, September 26th when they entertain Boston College in a 1:00 p.m. game at Glay Field.
