Friars Fall In Women's Soccer At Georgetown 3-0

Washington, D.C. - The Providence College Friars were shutout for the fourth time this season as they lost at Georgetown, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon in women's soccer action. The Friars did manage one goal - into their own net - as a PC defender misdirected a header past goalkeeper Shayna Ross (Sr., Whitman, Mass.) to give Georgetown a 1-0 lead at the 35:05 mark. The Hoyas then managed to second half goals as junior forward Sarah Breech got her third of the season at 65:26 and senior midfielder Barbara Niner got her first of the season just one minute and 34 seconds later at the 67:00 minute mark for the final of 3-0. Ross made four saves in goal for the Friars while Georgetown's sophomore goalkeeper Shereena Chang made four saves for the Hoyas to improve to 5-2-0 on the year. Ross is now 1-4-0 for the Friars. PC returns to action on Friday, September 24th when they host Northeast Division foe, Miami, at 3:00 p.m. in a BIG EAST divisional contest. Only games in each school's division will count towards the league standings this season in women's BIG EAST soccer. Game time at Glay Field is 3:00 p.m. at Washington, D.C.
