Sept. 16, 2003

Box Score

The Providence College women's soccer team tied New Hampshire on Tuesday, September 16, 0-0.

The Friars' strong defensive play helped them extend their unbeaten streak to five games. Providence is off to their best start in the last 13 seasons due to the hard work of senior goaltender Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) who has registered four shutouts in six games. The Friars were outshot by the Wildcats, 21-8, yet had several chances in both extra sessions. Junior Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.) narrowly missed on a direct kick from 35 yards out in the first overtime and then failed to connect on her service early in the second extra session. Haines made six saves as the Friars were outshot, 21-8.

With the draw, the Friars moved to 4-1-1 on the season, while New Hampshire moved to 2-3-2. Providence returns to action on Friday, September 19 as they host Villanova in their BIG EAST opener at 4:00 p.m. on Glay Field.
