POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Providence College women's soccer team defeated Marist College, 3-0, on Sunday, September 15 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

The Friars started the scoring in the 50th minute when BriAnne Bruni (Bristol, Conn.) scored on an unassisted shot from in front of the net. Bruni scored her second goal of the game in the 66th minute when she went around the goalie and put it in an empty net. Providence's last goal of the day came off the foot of senior Kyle McAuley (Trumbull, Conn.) in the 74th minute with assists going to sophomore Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.) and freshman Kerry O'Malley (Longmeadow, Mass.).

Providence had 19 shots on goal. O'Malley led the assault with six shots. Junior goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) played all 90 minutes of the game and recorded six saves on 12 shots.

The Friars improve to 3-1-2 on the season, while the Red Foxes fall to 1-4-0. Providence returns to action on Friday, September 20 against St. John's University at 4:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I.
