BOSTON, Mass. - The Providence College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with the Harvard Crimson on Friday, Sept. 13 in a night cap at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium in Boston, Mass.
The first 45 minutes of play were scoreless. Providence and Harvard battled back and forth but neither team was able to find the back of the net.
Sophomore Kathryn Hiller (Dartmouth, Mass.) scored on a breakaway in the 53rd minute to give the Friars a 1-0 advantage. Hiller drew Harvard's keeper off of her line and finished a strike to the back of the net. Her goal marked her fifth on the season.
Harvard evened the game at 1-1 in the 69th minute when Marie Margolius scored off of a header on a corner kick serviced by Peyton Johnson. The game remained tied until the end of regulation and the match was sent to overtime.
After 110 minutes of play, the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Providence generated one shot in overtime, compared to Harvard, who generated two.
Freshman keeper Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) played all 110 minutes in net and recorded 11 saves.
Providence returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 15 when the Friars travel to Boston Mass. for an afternoon match-up with Boston University. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
