Friars Fall To Georgetown, 3-0, In Women's Soccer Action
September 13, 1998 WASHINGTON, D.C. - Freshman forward Barbara Torres scored the first goal of her collegiate career and goalkeepers Shereena Chang and Emily Main combined to make two saves as the Georgetown Hoyas shutout Providence, 3-0, in BIG EAST women's soccer action at Georgetown's Harbin Field. Torres scored her goal just 5:17 into the first half. The Friars held Georgetown off the scoreboard until junior forward Elana Cabatu scored at 64:00. The Hoyas third goal came when a PC defender headed the ball into her own goal off a Georgetown corner kick at 67:58. The loss drops PC to 0-4 on the year, 0-2 in BIG EAST play. Georgetown is now 1-3 overall and 1-3 in BIG EAST play. The Hoyas had 21 shots on goal with the Friars' Shayna Ross making six saves. The Friars directed nine shots at the Hoyas goal. Chung made a pair of saves in 72 minutes played while Main made none in 18 minutes of action. PC was held to just three shots in the second half. Providence will look to pick up its first win on Wednesday, September 16th when the Friars host Boston University at 3:30 p.m. at PC's Glay Field. at Washington, D.C.
