Women's Soccer Defeats Marist, 3-1

The Providence College women's soccer team defeated Marist on Saturday, September 13, 3-1.

The Red Foxes got on the board first when Justine Caccamo ended senior goalkeeper Caroline Haines' (Stillwater, Minn.) shutout streak of three games in the seventh minute. Providence battled back and captured the lead in the 43rd minute as junior Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.) scored her second goal of the day. Junior BriAnne Bruni (Bristol, Conn.) added to the lead in the 66th minute with her second goal of the season. Haines made four saves as the Friars outshot the Red Foxes, 16-11.

With the win, the Friars improved to 4-1-0 on the season, while Marist fell to 0-4-0. Providence returns to action on Tuesday, September 16 they travel to Durham, N.H. to take on the New Hampshire Wildcats at 4:00 p.m.
