Final Stats

The Providence College women's soccer team defeated Holy Cross, 2-1, in non-conference action on Sunday, September 12 at Glay Field at Providence, R.I. Providence improves their record to an even 3-3 on the season, while Holy Cross falls to 1-3.

Senior BriAnne Bruni (Bristol, Conn.) scored the first goal of the game at 6:16 from an assist by senior Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.). Bruni's goals gives her five on the season and 30th point for her career, putting her in a three-way tie in 13th place on PC's all-time scoring leaders list. Lauren Pereira of Holy Cross evened the score, 1-1, from an assist by Meredith Davis at 20:52 in the first half.

Senior Lauren Ritchie (Sayville, N.Y.) scored a goal at the 42:30 mark from an assist by Danielle Wieneke (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) which proved to be the game winner.

Providence held the shot advantage outshooting Holy Cross 19-11, and lead on corner kicks, 4-1.

Freshman Ashley Fedyshyn (Lincroft, N.J.) allowed one goal and recorded four saves, while Eileen Geoghegan of Holy Cross allowed two goals and snatched seven saves.

Providence is scheduled to begin conference play at home versus West Virginia on Friday, September 17 at 4:00.
