PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women’s soccer team defeated the University of Arkansas, 4-3, on Sunday, Sept. 10 at Anderson Stadium.  The Friars overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Razorbacks, tying the game on two occasions at 2-2 and then 3-3.  Providences final two goals of the afternoon came in a span of 1:51 with less than 10 minutes left in regulation.  Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.) collected a career-high 10 saves in the winning effort.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
1st Half
-       Arkansas opened the game with two quick goals in the fifth and ninth minutes from Haley Vanfossen (4:35) and Stefani Doyle (8:14).
-       Arkansas led in shots (12-5) and corners (5-1).
-       Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.) recorded six saves to Arkansas’ Rachel Harris’ two.
2nd Half
-       The Friars outscored the Razorbacks 2-1 in the second half to earn their third victory of the season, with their final two goals coming in a span of 1:51 with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation.
-       Stefani Doyle gave Arkansas a 3-2 advantage in the 51st minute on her second goal of the game.
-       Freshman Ann McConnon (Springfield, Pa.) and Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) combined on the third goal for the Friars to give the team the first lead of the game in the 82nd minute.
-       Christina Klaum (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) netted the winning tally in the 82nd minute.
 
HOW THEY SCORED
-       (4:35) Haley Vanfossen put the Razorbacks up early on a shot within the 18-yard box.
-       (8:14) Stefani Doyle earned Arkansas’ second of the game on a finish on the goal line.
-       (50:40) Doyle netted her second of the game for the Razorbacks on a combination play from Kayla McKeon and Carly Hoke.
 
HOW WE SCORED
-       (16:55) Kayla Steeves (Neeham, Mass.) played a lofted ball into the attacking third and Juliana Pellegrini (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) picked up a lose ball in the 18-yard box on a deflection by an Arkansas defender.
-       (36:25) Steeves netted a penalty shot for the Friars.
-       (80:48) Ann McConnon (Springfield, Pa.) recorded her first collegiate tally on a rebound from Arkansas’ Harris inside the six-yard box.
-       (82:39) Christina Klaum (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) scored an impressive header on a free kick from Katie Day (East Kingston, N.H.).
