The Providence College women's soccer team defeated Quinnipiac on Friday, September 5, 1-0.

The Friars got on the board in the 57th minute of the game when junior Lauren Ritchie (Sayville, N.Y.) scored her second game-winner of the week on an assist from junior Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.). Robertson sent a free kick to the leftside of the penalty area where Ritchie headed the ball past the Quinnipiac keeper Heather Zaccone. It was Ritchie's second goal of the season and Robertson's first point. Senior goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) only had to make one save as the Friars outshot the Bobcats, 18-5.

With the win, the Friars improved to 2-1-0 on the season, while the Bobcats fell to 0-2-0. Providence returns to action on Sunday, September 7 as they host Long Island University at Glay Field at 1:00 p.m.
