Aug. 26, 2000 ORONO, Maine -- The Providence College women's soccer team opened the 2000 season with a 2-0 win against Marist College on Saturday, August 26 at the University of Maine. Providence added an insurance goal when Welsh distributed her second assist of the game on a Kate Lyden (Bellingham, Mass.) goal at 64:24. In goal, Marist's Melanie Nai stopped 11 shots while Providence freshman Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) turned away three attempts in her first collegiate contest.
