Maureen Murphy Named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Maureen Murphy (Buffalo, N.Y.) of the Providence College women’s ice hockey team was named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week for the second time this season on Dec. 4.

Murphy helped the Friars to a 1-0-1 weekend against UConn. In Saturday’s win over the Huskies, she chipped in an impressive three-point performance. She scored two goals, both short-handed, and added an assist. Murphy was on-ice for all four Providence goals, ending the night at +4. Over the course of the two games, the freshman recorded six shots on goal.

Currently, Murphy leads the team in goals scored with 12. She is third in overall points with 14. She is also fifth in Hockey East in goals scored, and second among the league’s freshmen.

The Friars close out the 2017 schedule with a game at Schneider Arena against Boston University on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 2:00 p.m.
