Providence, R.I. - After backstopping the Friars to a 4-1-2 record in the month of November, it was announced by the Hockey East Association that Genevieve Lacasse (Scarborough, Ontario) has been named Hockey East Rookie of the Month.

The freshman netminder has been sensational in the Friar cage over the past month. She finished November with a 4-1 record to go along with a 1.22 goals against average and an impressive .966 save percentage. Lacasse also registered an assist on the game-winning goal in Providence's 1-0 victory over Brown on Saturday, November 29, in the 14th annual Mayor's Cup.

She finished the month with two shutouts having denied 30 shots in a 2-0 victory over Connecticut on November 16 and 37 shots in the 1-0 defeat of Brown. Lacasse registered at least 30 saves in three consecutive games, highlighted by a career-high 51 save-performance against #10 Mercyhurst.

Lacasse was named Mission Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week of November 17 after her dominant 30-save shutout against Connecticut. On the season, she stands at 6-4-0 with a stellar 1.72 goals against average to go along with a .950 save percentage, both good for second in Hockey East.

Lacasse is the first Friar to be named Hockey East Rookie of the Month since Sonny Watrous earned the honor in February of 2005.

Providence will continue its six game road trip with a weekend series against conference foe Maine beginning on Friday, December 5, at 7:00 p.m. Game two will begin at 2:00 p.m. with both contests being held at Maine's Alfond Arena.
