PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence college women's ice hockey forward Nicole Anderson (Jordan, Minn.) has been named Athletic Republic co-Player of the Week by the Women's Hockey East Association. It is the first time the junior has been recognized with the award.

Anderson was outstanding in leading the Friars to a 5-0 victory over host Union on Sunday. The winger contributed a career-best four points, scoring one goal to go with three assists.

It is the first time Anderson has earned the award, though she was Rookie of the Week twice during her freshman season.

Anderson becomes the second Friar this year to earn Player of the week honors. Senior Laura Veharanta captured the accolade on November 7. The Friars return to action this Sunday, November 27, when they visit Union in Schenectady, N.Y. Face-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. The next Friar home game is Saturday, December 3 when they welcome #5 Boston University.
