Women's Hockey Takes On Cross-City Rival For 21st Mayor's Cup

FOR STARTERS...
• Providence will host cross-city rival Brown for the 21st Annual Mayor’s Cup.
• Last year, Brown took back the cup with a 2-1 victory over the Friars.
• The puck will drop at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28 at Schneider Arena.
• Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza will present the winning team with the Mayor’s Cup at the end of the game.

LAST TIME OUT...
• Providence traveled to Chestnut Hill, Mass. to face No. 2 Boston College and fell 9-1.
Cassidy Carels scored the Friars’ lone goal on a power-play. She was assisted by Christina Putigna and Brooke Boquist.
• Putigna and Boquist’s assists extend their point streak to six points.
• Putigna was named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Nov. 23.

SCOUTING THE BEARS...
• The Brown University Bears hold a 2-7-0 (0-4-0 ECAC) record on the 2015-16 season.
• The Bears are led by Sam Donovan, who has tallied five points on four goals and one assist.
• Maddie Woo leads the Bears with helpers, notching four assists on the season.
• Leah Olson has added two of Brown’s four power-play goals this season.
• The Bears’ power play has a 10% conversion rate and have struck four times in their nine games.
• Brown has a 78.1% success rate on the penalty kill.
• The Bears have a 1-3-0 road record this season.
• Brown won their most recent game, with a 2-1 victory at RIT on Nov. 21.
• Against Hockey East opponents, Brown is 0-2-0. The Bears faced the University of Maine on Oct. 23 & 24, losing both games.

ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY...
• Providence leads the all-time series 36-24-3, with a .595 win percentage.
• The last time the Friars captured the Mayor’s Cup, Janine Weber scored in overtime. Weber graduated in 2014 and is now playing for the New York Riveters of the NWHL. She was the first Friar to sign as a professional women’s ice hockey player.
• In last season’s double header five returning Friars notched a point.

FRIARS IN NOVEMBER...
Brooke Boquist collected nine points in the past six games, on seven goals and two assists.
Christina Putigna has notched two goals and eight assists for ten points in the Friars’ six games during November.
• Putigna was named Rookie of the Week on Nov. 23.
Madison Sansone has recorded seven goals and one assist for eight points, for a five-game point streak.
• Sansone was name Co-Player of the Week on Nov. 9.
