WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Providence College women's ice hockey sophomore forward Beth Hanrahan (Poolesville, Md.) and freshman goaltender Sarah Bryant (Bethlehem, Pa.) received weekly Hockey East honors for their play over the weekend. Hanrahan was named Athletic Republic Co-Player of the Week, while Bryant was named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week.
Hanrahan is the second Friar this season to be named Athletic Republic Co-Player of the week. Hanrahan notched three goals on the weekend, matching a career high two goal game in the 4-0 win over Union College on Sunday, Nov. 25. She has tallied seven goals, tied for eighth in Hockey East, and one assist on the season thus far. On Oct. 30. senior forward Nicole Anderson (Jordan, Minn.) was the last Friar to earn the award.
Bryant was named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the week for helping the Friars to three points on the weekend with her first career shutout on Sunday, Nov. 25 against Union College, 4-0. Bryant made a total of 49 saves during the Friars two-game weekend. On Friday, Nov. 23, Bryant made 25 saves to earn a tie in the 18th annual Mayor's Cup. She has played a total of 726:40 minutes for the Friars and has collected a 6-3-3 record. Bryant has a 2.64 goals against average, ranking fifth in Hockey East, and a .892 save percentage. The last Friar to earn the award was freshman Lexi Slattery on Nov. 5.
Providence is back in action this Friday, Nov. 30 when it hosts No. 5 Boston University at 7:00 p.m.
