Sara DeCosta Named ECAC Goaltender of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College sophomore goaltender Sara DeCosta of Warwick, R.I. was named ECAC Goaltender of the Week on Monday, November 23.

DeCosta received her Goaltender of the Week honor for making 52 saves in two ECAC games against Dartmouth and Boston College on Nov. 20-21. On Nov. 20, DeCosta made 39 saves in the Friars' 3-1 win against Dartmouth. The following night, she recorded 13 stops in a 5-1 win against Boston College. In the two games, DeCosta recorded a 0.59 goals against average and a .981 save percentage.

Last season, DeCosta helped the U.S. Women's Olympic Team earn a gold medal in Nagano, Japan. She recorded a 1.59 goals against average and a .875 save percentage at the Olympics.

DeCosta is the daughter of Frank and Nancy DeCosta. Prior to attending Providence, she played for Toll Gate High School.

Providence (3-1-1) will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 28 against Colby College at Schneider Arena at 2:00 p.m.
