PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Three members of the Providence College women’s ice hockey team were named Hockey East Top Performers as announced by the league office on Nov. 16. Sophomore forward Madison Sansone (Lockport, N.Y.), senior defender Lexi Romanchuk (San Jose, Calif.), and freshman forward Christina Putigna (Grimsby, Ontario) each earned the weekly honor.

Sansone recorded four goals over the Frairs’ two game series at Vermont. Sansone picked up two goals in the Friars’ 4-1 win over the Catamounts on Nov. 13. Sansone notched the Friars first short-handed tally of the season. On Nov. 14, the sophomore registered two of the team’s three goals, including a power-play goal. Sansone has recorded six goals in the Friars’ last three games, scoring two goals in each match up. This is Sansone’s second weekly honor and was named Co-Player of the Week last week (Nov.9).

Romanchuk tallied four assists over the weekend, two in each game against Vermont. Romanchuk has added five assists in the Friars’ last three games. This is Romanchuk’s first weekly honor of the season and has been recognized twice before (Jan. 6. 2014, Jan. 26. 2014).

Putigna notched three assists for the Friars in the two-game split at Vermont. Putigna has also been on a point streak, adding six points in her previous three games. This is the second weekly honor as a Hockey East top performer for Putigna (Nov.9).

The Friars will return to action at 2:00 p.m. on Nov. 21 against Hockey East rival, New Hampshire.
