The Providence College women's ice hockey team will play host to the University of Connecticut on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2:00 p.m. and the University of New Hampshire Sunday, Nov. 11. at 2:00 p.m. The Friars will enter the weekend with a 6-4-1 overall record and a 4-1-0 Hockey East record.

Providence College senior Genevieve Lacasse (Kingston, Ontario) broke the school record for career wins Sunday, as the Providence College Women's Ice Hockey team defeated host UConn Sunday, 5-2, at the Freitas Ice Forum.

Women's Ice Hockey Cruises past New Hampshire, 4-2
Four different Friars scored as the Providence College women's ice hockey team defeated host New Hampshire, 4-2, Sunday at the Whittemore Center. Providence has now won five consecutive games, the team's longest win streak this season.

Earlier this week the Friars faced off against No. 8 Boston College, where Providence fell 6-1 to the Eagles on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Conte Forum. The Friars were first on the board with a goal from junior Rebecca Morse (Westfield, N.J.) at 11:36 in the first period. Morse, with her second goal on the season, scored from the top of the circle on the left side of the ice after blasting home a shot that went high glove side on Eagle goaltender, Corinne Boyles. Freshman Sarah Bryant (Bethleham, Pa.) made 32 stops on 37 shots for the Friars in 51:38 minutes of work.

Providence goes into Saturday's match-up with a 34-10-4 overall record against the Huskies. The last time the two teams faced off was Jan. 28 and 29, when the Friars hosted Connecticut before traveling to Storrs, Conn. to finish the back-to-back series. Providence swept the weekend series with 2-0 and 5-2 wins over the Huskies.

Providence and New Hampshire have faced off in 136 games to date. The Friars have captured 48 of those games for a 48-76-12 overall record against the Wildcats. Providence has won nine of the last 10 games, starting with a win at New Hampshire on Dec. 5, 2009, which marked the first loss on home ice in the history of women's Wildcat hockey. Last season the Friars swept the Wildcats 4-2, 3-1 and 6-2 to earn their third straight Hockey East series win over New Hampshire.

Scouting Connecticut: The Huskies enter the weekend with a 2-8-1 overall record and a 1-3-0 record in Hockey East. Connecticut last faced off against Northeastern, where UConn fell 5-2 at home and 9-1 on the road. Leading the team in scoring is freshman Michela Cava with nine points on five goals and four assists and senior Kelly Horan with nine points on two goals and seven assists.

Scouting New Hampshire: The Wildcats enter the weekend with a 3-7-0 overall record and a 1-2-0 conference record. New Hampshire last faced Dartmouth on Tuesday, Nov. 6, where the Wildcats fell 3-2 in regulation time. The Wildcats have fallen in their last six games, with half being decided by only one goal. Leading the team in scoring is senior Kristina Lavoie with eight points on three goals and five assists. Lavoie is followed by freshman Sara Carlson (4-3-7) and senior Kristine Horn (2-5-7).
