Women's Hockey Player Jessica Cohen Named Hockey East Rookie of the Month

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It has been announced by the Hockey East Association that Jessica Cohen (Anchorage, Alaska) has been named Hockey East Rookie of the Month for the month of October. Cohen finished the month with three goals and three assists for six points, the second-highest mark on the team. She recorded two points (1 g, 1 a) in the first game of her career in PC's 4-0 victory over Maine on Oct. 2. Of her three goals, two have come as game winners (10/2 vs. Maine, 10/16 vs. Colgate). Cohen also leads the team with a plus-3 on the plus/minus scale.

Cohen was named Bauer Rookie of the Week on two occassions in October. She earned the award on October 5 after leading Providence to a 2-0-0 start in conference play after sweeping Maine in Schneider Arena by scores of 4-0 and 2-1. The freshman forward put home the game winner and added an assist in game one before tallying an assist on the opening goal in game two. She was named Rookie of the Week on October 19 after scoring in consecutive games against Colgate and Syracuse. Her strike against Colgate proved to be the game winner.

Providence will finish the season series against Maine with a 7:00 p.m. contest in Orono, Maine on Friday, November 6 before hosting No. 9 Northeastern on Sunday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. For ticket information, please call 401-865-GOPC.
