Providence College women's ice hockey junior Genevieve Lacasse (Scarborough, Ontario) has been named Hockey East's Goaltender of the Month for October. It is the second time she has earned the honor in her career, the first coming in December of last year.
Lacasse started every game in the Friars' opening month, earning a record of 6-2-1. During that time, she notched the 10th and 11th shutouts of her career, blanking clarkson in a 5-0 decision on October 10, and Princeton in a 4-0 decision on October 23.
The netminder's autumn success includes a goals against average of 1.64 and a save percentage of .949 that's third best in the nation.
After visiting Yale Tuesday, the Friars play again on Saturday, November 6, at Boston University. Face-off at Walter Brown Arena is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Friars return home to Schnieder Arena on Sunday, November 7, to take on Maine.
