Two Women’s Hockey Players Earn Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Two members of the Providence College women’s ice hockey team earned Hockey East weekly honors. Brooke Boquist (Thunder Bay, Ontario) was named Warrior Hockey East Co-Player of the Week and Kate Friesen (Altona, Manitoba) was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week.

Boquist tallied five points in the Friars’ two wins on Oct. 28 and Oct. 29. Boquist recorded an assist on the game-winning goal in the final minutes of Providence’s comeback win over Maine (3-2). The junior forward recorded four more points in the Friars’ 6-2 win at Merrimack. Boquist tallied two goals in 18 seconds and added two assists. The four points also sets a career-high for the junior.

Friesen tallied two goals and two assists in two games. On Oct. 28, Friesen recorded the primary assist on the game-tying goal with 1:53 remaining in regulation to help the Friars past Maine. Friesen added two goals and one assist in Providence’s win at Merrimack.

Providence is back in action on Nov. 5 at Schneider Arena and will host Hockey East rival New Hampshire at 2:00 p.m.
