PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women’s ice hockey freshman defender Kate Friesen (Altona, Manitoba) and junior goaltender Alanna Serviss (Chicago, Ill.) were named Hockey East Top Performers in an announcement made by the league on Monday (Oct. 26).

Friesen scored the Friars’ lone goal of the weekend in their game on Oct. 24 against Vermont. The goal marks Friesen’s second goal of the season. She is the only Friar on the roster to score multiple goals through six games.

Serviss played 44:52 minutes of the game versus No. 9/10 ranked Northeastern on Oct. 25. Serviss made a career-high 24 saves and held the Huskies scoreless. Northeastern entered the game with a 40-percent conversion rate on power plays and Serviss kept the Huskies off the board on each of their three opportunities.

The honors mark the first for Friesen and Serviss.
