Women's Ice Hockey Player Jessica Cohen Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced by the Hockey East Association that freshman forward Jessica Cohen (Anchorage, Alaska) was named the Bauer Rookie of the Week on Monday, October 19. Cohen scored two goals on the weekend. She notched her second game-winning goal, and third overall, in PC's 4-1 victory over Colgate on Friday. She also scored the lone goal in the Friars' 3-1 defeat against Syracuse on Saturday. Cohen is tied for the team lead with six points (3 g, 3 a).

This marks the second time Cohen has been named Rookie of the Week. She was named Rookie of the Week on October 5 after leading Providence to a pair of Hockey East victories over Maine to start the season. On October 2, Cohen scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in PC's 4-0 victory over Maine. On Saturday, October 3, she registered an assist on the game-tying goal as Providence eventually came away with a 2-1 victory against the Black Bears.

The Friars stand at 3-2-1 (2-0-0 Hockey East) and are next in action when they host Yale on Friday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. before hosting Brown in the 15th annual Mayor's Cup on Sunday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m.
