• Providence will open the 2016-17 Season at Schneider Arena with a two game non-conference series with the Robert Morris Colonials.
• The Friars will play the Colonials on Oct. 1 at 2:00 p.m. and on Oct. 2 at 12:30 p.m.

The Friars in 2016...
• The Friars opened the 2016-17 season with a Hockey East matchup against Boston University on Sept. 25 at Walter Brown Arena. The Friars were defeated, 5-2.
• Senior captain Cassidy Carels scored both Providence goals.
• Sophomore defenseman Kate Friesen assisted on the second Carels goal.
• Senior defender Lauren Klein played in her 100th career game.
• The Friars outshot the Terriers 36-32 in the game.
Madison Myers tallied 28 saves in the game.

Women’s Hockey Defeated By Robert Morris, 4-1
The Providence College women’s hockey team was defeated by the Robert Morris Colonials, 4-1. The Colonials scored two power play goals and collected on a penalty shot to help them skate past the Friars. Providence moves to 6-13-0 and Robert Morris improves to 12-6-4.

Recapping the 2015-16 Season...
• The Friars finished the 2015-16 season with a 10-24-2 (6-16-2 Hockey East) record.
Cassidy Carels led Providence in scoring, with 29 points on 20 assists and nine goals.
• Carels recorded 20 assists was a team high for the Friars. • Brooke Boquist led the team in goals, with 12.
• Rookie Christina Putigna led in Power Play goals, with eight.
• Putigna was second among her teammates in points, goals, and assists with 28. The forward recorded 11 goals and 17 assists.
Madison Myers played notched 616 saves in her rookie campaign, with a career-high 42 saves coming in the Hockey East Quarterfinals against then-No.6 Northeastern (Feb. 26).
•Seven returning Friars tallied double-digit points: Carels (29), Putigna (28), Boquist (22), Madison Sansone (13), Cassidy MacPherson (13), Kate Friesen (12) and Blair Parent (10).

Scouting the Colonials...
• The Colonials open the season with one exhibition game under their belt, defeating the Toronto Junior Aeros, 2-0.
• Robert Morris returns their top three points scorers from the 2015-16 season. Brittany Howard tallied 40 points on 17 goals and 23 assists, Mackenzie Johnston registered 25 points on 12 goals and 13 assists, and Kristen Welsh also had 25 points on seven goals and 18 assists.
• The Colonials also return all three goaltenders and each saw time in their exhibition game.
• Jessica Dodds saw the majority of time during the 2015-16 season (1898:23) and posted a .922 save percentage and 2.28 goals against average.
