Aug. 16, 2010

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College junior women's ice hockey player Genevieve Lacasse (Scarborough, Ontario) has been named to the Canadian National Women's Under-22 Team for a three-game series against the U.S. Under-22 Women's National Team scheduled for August 18th through the 21st. Hockey Canada announced its roster for the Under-22 series on Sunday, August 15.

Lacasse will square off against current Friar teammate Amber Yung (Rockville, Va.), who secured a spot on the U.S. roster in late June. Lacasse is a goaltender, while Yung is a defenseman.

Lacasse and Yung helped the Friars capture the 2010 HOCKEY EAST Regular-Season title. Lacasse was tabbed a 2010 HOCKEY EAST Second-Team All-Star. During the year she was a three-time HOCKEY EAST Defensive Player of the Week selection and was named Goaltender of the Month in December. Yung was runner-up for the HOCKEY EAST Defenseman of the Year Award, earned New England Hockey Writer's All-Star status and was named to the HOCKEY EAST All-Star Second Team. Yung also participated in the U.S. Under-22 camp in December (2009).

The Under-22 series will take place at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto, Canada. Each game of the series is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on August 18, 19 and 21.
