    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women's hockey Head Coach Bob Deraney has been named an assistant coach with Team USA's Under-22 national team.

    The U-22 team is taking part in the 2014 USA Hockey Women's National Festival from Aug. 12-16, in Lake Placid, N.Y. After the festival, a 22-player roster will be announced for a U-22 series against Canada held from Aug. 21-24 at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta.

    Deraney has guided Providence to three Hockey East titles, six Hockey East final appearances, one ECAC Championship and one NCAA tournament appearance. He has also mentored five All-Americans including Sara DeCosta (1999 and 2000), Jessica Tabb (2001), Kelli Halcisak (2003 and 2004), Kristen Gigliotti (2006) and Karen Thatcher (2006). In 2008, he was on the coaching staff for the U-18 USA Women's National Team that won the gold medal at the inaugural IIHF World Women's U-18 Championships.
