Women's Hockey Adds Two Players To Program

    Aug. 5, 2014

Providence College head women’s hockey coach Bob Deraney announced the addition of two members to the 2014-15 roster. Alanna Serviss (Chicago, Ill.) and Lauren Klein (Shoreview, Minn.) will join the women’s hockey team and attend the college beginning in September.

Serviss, a goaltender, played club hockey for the Chicago Young Americans from 2008-14. During that time, she helped the team to a Two Nation College Prep Tournament title and multiple second-place state championship finishes. Prior to CYA, she played four seasons at Luther North High School. She captained the team in 2011 and 2012 and was the team MVP for four-consecutive years (2009-12). She also earned First Team All-State honors in 2011 and 2012.

Klein, a defenseman, played for four seasons at Mounds View High School, where she captained the team in 2012. In her senior year at Mounds View, Klein tallied 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points, helping her team to a Suburban East Conference Championship. She also was named All-Conference and All-Section in 2012-13.

“We are very excited to add Alanna and Lauren to our program,” Deraney said. “Not only are they going to provide depth at the goalie and defense position for us, but more importantly, both players have the ability to contribute to our success and increase their roles on the team as they grow with the program over their time with us.”

The women’s hockey team will play their first exhibition game at Schneider Arena against the Montreal Stars of the CWHL on Saturday, September 27 at 7 p.m.
