Canadian National Women’s Development Team Summer Showcase Roster

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Hockey Canada announced on Thursday (July 27) that Providence College women’s hockey junior Christina Putigna (Grimsby, Ontario) was invited to Canada’s Under-22 National Development Team Selection Camp set to take place from Aug. 5-13 in Calgary, Alberta as part of the program’s Summer Showcase.

Five goaltenders, six defensemen, and 14 forwards will participate in practices, intrasquad games, off-ice dryland training, fitness testing, and classroom sessions. The camp will serve as an evaluation in selecting Canada’s roster that will compete at the 2018 Nations Cup in Füssen, Germany in January.

This is the fourth Hockey Canada development camp Putigna has attended since joining the women’s hockey program. She was previously invited to the 2016 and 2017 Strength and Conditioning Camps as well as the 2016 Under-22 series.

As a sophomore, Putigna finished with the third-most points (28) and led the team in assists (19). Of her 19 assists, six led to game-winning tallies. Putigna also registered a 10-game point streak, totaling 13 points during that span.
