Thirteen Women’s Hockey Players Earn Hockey East All-Academic Team Honors

Sarah Bryant was named the 2015 Hockey East All-Academic All-Star Team’s goaltender.

WAKEFIELD, Mass. -

The Hockey East Association announced on Wednesday morning (July 1) that 13 Providence College women’s hockey players were named to the 2015 Hockey East All-Academic Team, including recent graduates Stephanie DeMars (Vermontville, N.Y.), Haley Frade (Marion, Mass.), Beth Hanrahan (Poolesville, Md.) and Brooke Simpson (Boxborough, Mass.), rising seniors Sarah Bryant (Bethlehem, Pa.),Courtney Kukowski (Apple Valley, Minn.), Allie Morse (Cottage Grove, Minn.), Lexi Romanchuk (San Jose, Calif.) and Brittney Thunstrom (Coon Rapids, Minn.) as well as rising juniors Cassidy Carels (Bruxelles, Manitoba), Kendra Goodrich (Apple Valley, Minn.), Liv Halvorson (Richfield, Minn.) and Lauren Klein (Shoreview, Minn.).

Frade had the added distinction of being named one of five Top Scholar Athletes after compiling a perfect 4.0 GPA for the season. In addition, Frade was one of four forwards placed on the 2014-15 Hockey East All-Academic All-Star Team, while Bryant was named the All-Academic All-Star Team’s goaltender.


 

 

All told, a league-record 106 student-athletes were named to the 2015 All-Academic Team. To be named to the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must achieve a grade point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two academic periods during which he was actively competing.
